Time…She Loves Me? (Not)

OH  WOW!
It’s already been what?!?!?
30, 40, 50, 60,70, 80 some  years?
Oh, where does  (did)  it go?
That time we thought we had?
Where were you then?
Did you know me?
Did you know me when?
How about now?
Do you really?
And, where will you be?
And, where will we go?
Will I know you?
10? 20?  30?
Years, months, hours?
How about me?
Where am I going to be?
I (we) guess we’ll
have to wait
and see!

The Sound of Silence

Today, what will be our history?

Today, we celebrate the legacy of a man who brought about change through his philosophies, his words and his actions.   While the work of Martin Luther King is a lasting testament to conviction, courage, commitment, and others, there is much work left to be done in the fight against inequality.   Not limited to race, but to poverty, to human rights, and much more, the world has as many questions as we move forward each and every day trying to right wrongs and move forward in a way that treats everyone with mutual respect.

With that being said, when we look back on history we tend to applaud those that were auspiciously unpopular doing what was deemed as rather inappropriate, even illegal, at the time.  Likewise, after years of unraveling that what was hailed as being so great is often seen much differently.   History has a way of filling in the gaps that are not always visible in the present moment.

Martin Luther King addressed injustice in a society that did not necessarily want to hear what he had to say.   Today, who are the most monumental leaders and what events will stand the test of time?   Today, who will history treat as kindly?

Today, are their injustices, in if so, which ones are worth fighting for?  Today, what is the appropriate platform for public discourse?  Today, when is it appropriate to protest and at what point is it not only your right but your duty?  Today, what is pushing us forward and what is pulling us backwards?

In remembrance, and in reflection, may we find the conviction to do what is right even if it is wildly unpopular.   May we have the courage to seek love, because love is too much of a burden to carry.  And, may we have the commitment to better not only ourselves, but our neighbors, our cities, our states, and our country, and the world in which we all share together in one large global community.

What Do you Want…Today

Today…..

There is someone who feels full.

There is someone who feels empty.

There is someone who feels loved.

There is someone who feels loneliness.

There is someone who feels joy.

There is someone who feels sadness.

There is someone who feels worthy.

There is someone who feels worthless.

There is someone who feels something.

There is something who feels nothing.

Today…..

Is there an answer to the question or a question to the answer?

Have you woke up today, enough to say good morning, are are you still asleep? Is it all a dream? Or, is the dream but your awakened state of being?

Maybe there is duality? Even plurality?   Could there be?

Have you ever fell in a well so deep that there was no escape?   Did you fall, or were you pushed?   With walls too high and the floor too deep, was the only way out for someone to come by to help with your release?  Did you wake up in a cold sweat or did you cry yourself asleep for a temporary reprieve?

If there is a reason for everything does that not also mean there is a reason for nothing? Because nothing is a part of everything, is it not?

You must not blame others if you are to truly be free? Conversely then, must you not commend others if you want total freedom?

Have you ever been so sick that you could not move and the world began to spin?  Out of control, trying to grasp for something to hold onto, with but a singular thought but to survive?   Wondering how ever will I get out of this alive?  Were you closer to death or inching closer to being alive?

If there is something bigger than ourselves, then is there equally so something smaller?

Are you blinded by your own sight or are you only seeing what you see?   Is truth hidden or staring you in the eye?   Is truth but a blink away or are their truths beyond your line of sight?

If all comes from within, then should not full gratitude and praise go also to that which is within?  If no external force is part of your proverbial falling then is it not the same for your eventual rise?

Are you but everything and nothing at the same time?   Perfect for your imperfections, greater than the sum of all your blemishes, beautiful for the beauty that is?

If everything is but an illusion of your consciousness, is not then your consciousness itself an illusion?  Or, is the illusion the illusion all too itself?

The Thought Before You Think

LOVE.

No more words are needed.

It is a complete sentence all to itself.

It is a complete thought all by itself.

While some see the world as Hell, I see Heaven above, below, and all around me.  I see it now. I see it every day.

While some see Fear and Hate, I see  Love. I see it above, below, and all around me. I see it now. I see it every day.

Thought of the Day:

The Thought Before You Think

When someone asks, “How are you?” that is a loaded question.

How am I physically, mentally, spiritually, financially?  At this moment?  Or, overall?

The answer really is not about them, it’s about us.   How can we tell where are at in any given moment?    Recognizing the thought, before we think, which is the first thought we think before we starting consciously thinking.  For example, what is the first thought when:

  • I wake up in the morning?
  • I see myself in the mirror?
  • I look at my checking account?
  • I open the mail to an unexpected bill?
  • I open the mail to an unexpected check?
  • I am paid a compliment?
  • I notice someone looking at me?
  • I look at them and they smile?
    • And, they are of the same sex?
    • Of the opposite sex?
    • Younger?
    • Older?
    • Same race?
    • Or, different?
  • I hear someone say, “I need to talk to you?”
    • And, it’s a boss
    • Or, a significant other?
  • I step inside a church?
    • Or, a cemetery?
  • I step into a crowded room?
    • And, it’s full of strangers?
  • I am all alone for any length of time?
  • I walk into a room full of models?

I Can, But Why?

How Can I

Belittle,

For possessing less than I

How Can I

Chastise,

For acquiring more than me

How Can I

Begrudge,

For being different than I

How Can I

Disparage,

For landing softer than me

How Can I

Condemn,

For falling harder than I

How Can I

Deplore,

For being different than me
